As a jewellery designer, there are moments you dream about.

Not because they're planned, but because they happen completely unexpectedly.

Recently, I was producing one of the UK's largest education awards ceremonies, bringing together more than 1,100 guests to celebrate excellence across the sector. The evening's host was comedian Katherine Ryan.

As we were chatting before the ceremony, Katherine noticed the earrings I was wearing.

She asked where they were from.

When I told her they were from Sultanesque,I gifted her a pair.

Then came the moment I wasn't expecting.

"Can I wear them on stage?" she asked.

Of course, my answer was yes.

A few moments later, we found ourselves jewellery twinning as she walked on stage wearing the same handcrafted earrings I was also wearing.

It was one of those wonderfully surreal moments that every independent designer hopes for. Not because the jewellery was worn by a celebrity, but because it was chosen organically. There was no campaign, no partnership and no expectation. She simply loved the design enough to want to wear it.

That reminded me why I started Sultanesque.

Every piece I create is inspired by the rich artistry of the Ottoman Empire and handcrafted with the hope that it will make someone feel confident, elegant and connected to something timeless.

Jewellery has an incredible way of starting conversations.

Sometimes those conversations happen between friends.

Sometimes they happen with complete strangers.

And every now and then, they lead to an unforgettable moment on one of the biggest stages of your career.

To Katherine, thank you for embracing the moment with such warmth and enthusiasm. It made an already unforgettable evening even more special.

Sometimes the best stories aren't planned.

Sometimes they begin with a simple compliment... and end with two women wearing the same pair of earrings.

The story didn't quite end there.

After the event, Katherine shared one of my posts on Instagram and described me as a "talented designer." As an independent jewellery designer, those words meant the world to me. Building a small business takes years of dedication, and receiving such a genuine compliment from someone who had simply fallen in love with one of my designs was incredibly special.

It wasn't something I had planned or expected, but it became a reminder of why I do what I do: creating jewellery that sparks conversation, tells a story and brings people joy.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones you could never have scripted.
